Folha Larga Norte Wind Farm
Located in the interior of Bahia, in the municipality of Campo Formoso, the Folha Larga Norte Wind Complex (344.4 MW) consists of 2 phases and was made possible by contracting the sale of energy in government auctions in 2018 and by entering into commitments in the free market, such as Braskem’s PPA. Under the agreement, the largest producer of thermoplastic resins in the Americas has committed to purchase energy from the EDF Renewables project for 20 years. Phase 1 commercial entry into operation was achieved in October 2020 and phase 2 in May 2021. The park was financed by BNB.
The generation of both phases meets the consumption needs of about 1.1 million Brazilian households and avoids the emission of approximately 340 thousand tons of COշ into the atmosphere per year.
Serra do Seridó Wind Farm
The Serra do Seridó Wind Farm (480MW), located in the municipalities of Junco do Seridó, Santa Luzia, Salgadinho and Assunção, represents the 1st EDF Renewables project in the state of Paraíba, northeast Brazil. The project was made possible by the 2019 federal auction and by PPA in the free market. The works for the construction of the Serra do Seridó Wind Farm began in 2021 for phase 1 and 2022 for phase 2, with commercial operation in 2023 and 2024, respectively. The park was financed by BNB. The wind complex is EDF Renewables’ largest in South America.
Parque Eólico Serra das Almas
The Serra das Almas Wind Farm, the most recent project of EDF Renewables Brasil, is located on the border between the states of Bahia and Minas Gerais and was made possible exclusively by the signing of contracts in the free market. The park will have 58 wind turbines and a capacity of 261 MW. The works began in 2023 and the commercial entry is scheduled for the first half of 2025.
