Pirapora Photovoltaic Plants

EDF Renewables was one of the pioneers in the solar market in Brazil. The company acquired the Greenfied project with PPA consisting of: Pirapora Phase 1 (191 MWp) in 2016, and Pirapora Phase 2 (115 MWp) and 3 (93 MWp) in 2017. EDF Renewables took the lead in the construction, financing and operation of all phases. In December 2018, the publicly traded Brazilian company Omega Geração acquired 50% of the complex, entering into a long-term partnership for the plant’s operation. Currently, EDF Renewables is responsible for managing these assets.

The Pirapora Complex is located in southeastern Brazil, in the state of Minas Gerais. Pirapora Photovoltaic Power Plants has a gross capacity of 400 MWp and represents one of the largest solar complexes in South America. The solar energy generated is fully contracted through 20-year energy purchase agreements.
