Our commitments

Social Responsibility

EDF Renewables understands that its role goes beyond renewable energy generation. The company is committed to a fair and sustainable energy transition, and firmly believes in the importance of its performance aligned with ESG pillars.

Partnerships with communities

The company establishes partnerships for social projects and promotes actions that contribute to the economic, social and educational development of the communities where it operates. Check out some of our actions.

We are committed to valuing and prioritizing the hiring of local labor in all of our assets. This practice not only strengthens the communities where we operate but also contributes to the socio-economic development of the regions.

The hiring of local labor is not only a strategic choice but also a contractual requirement established with our subcontractors. In 2023 alone, 977 residents from neighboring municipalities to our parks worked in service of our assets.

In 2023, in celebration of Children’s Day, we donated toys to about 125 children from the Associação Espírita Chico Xavier, da Associação Urandiense de Portadores de Necessidades Especiais (AUPNE) and the Saco da Onça community.

To celebrate Christmas, theatrical and musical performances, painting workshops, games, in addition to the distribution of gifts to families in the communities of Saco da Onça, Cabeceiras and Raiz, Santa Efigênia and Cachoeira were promoted. In all, 128 children and more than 100 adults participated in the initiatives.

We always promote meetings with residents of the regions where we operate, sharing information about the parks, such as construction characteristics, socio-environmental programs and available communication channels.

We also received representatives from local communities and students to explain about the positive impacts brought by our assets.

Occupational health and safety

The culture of health and safety represents a priority theme for the EDF Group, with prevention and shared surveillance as fundamental routine actions to avoid accidents.

Our goals are: no fatal accidents, reduce workplace accidents and protect health. To this end, we regularly promote various initiatives that seek to reduce the risk of accidents at work.

We carry out NR35 training, health and safety, prevention campaigns, emergency simulations, traffic educational blitz, among others. Also check out the top 10 rules that permeate all the activities of our employees and partners: 10 vital rules of EDF Renewables

Solidarity as a value

Volunteer Program

Corrente do Bem

Solidarity is one of EDF Renewables’ values and, to encourage the practice, the company created the Corrente do Bem Program in 2022. The initiative aims to encourage employees to participate in actions with a socio-environmental impact, adding purpose to the work environment and acting as an agent of transformation. The actions range from the distribution of items and gifts in needy communities to the donation of school supplies, clothes and personal objects, through support for campaigns to collect donations for social projects and even beach cleaning efforts.

Partnerships

EDF Renewables not only develops actions in the municipalities where it operates, but also supports several non-governmental organizations aligned with its values and that aim to positively impact society on different fronts. Check out some of the partner institutions below.

Thinking about contributing to the promotion of education in the country, we are partners of the Reciclar Institute, which seeks to develop young people to undertake in life, at work and in the community through an innovative educational model, technical qualification and support for employability. With the partnership, we contribute to the Creative Solutions Workshops and the SDGs Project, which directly benefits 200 young people between 15 and 19 years old. In addition, we participate in the volunteer program, which consists of Mentoring the Educational Program, being a Technical Project Consultant for the Creative Solutions Workshops and Project Pitch Evaluator for the Creative Solutions Workshops.

One By One

We carry out several actions with One by One, whose mission is to provide social inclusion for families with children with physical, motor or neurological disabilities and in social vulnerability. In addition to the donation of plastic caps, which contributes to the purchase of wheelchairs for the families served, we support the organization with the promotion of educational workshops, as well as financial resources, donations of computers and office furniture.

UNICEF

In 2020 and 2021, we made donations to support UNICEF’s emergency actions in the fight against Covid-19 in the states of Amazonas, Pará, Rio de Janeiro, Bahia, Pernambuco, Ceará, São Paulo and Maranhão. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), cleaning and personal hygiene kits, medical equipment, food baskets and information leaflets about the disease were distributed. In all, 229 health units were benefited, enabling protection for more than 6,600 health professionals and the care of more than 70 thousand people.

The partnerships linked to the Pirapora and Unicef Photovoltaic Plants were signed through the BNDES ISE line and allocated more than R$ 4.7 million in actions against Covid-19.
