
Oiti Project
EDF Oiti Transmissora was founded in 2022 after EDF Power Solutions Brazil won the ANEEL Transmission Auction No. 002/2022. The company committed to constructing the Porto do Açu substation (SE) and transmission lines to section the existing 345 kV Transmission Line (LT) connecting UTE GNA I to SE Campos. Subsequently, the company will be responsible for the operation of SE Porto do Açu and approximately 50 km of transmission lines between the new substation and SE Campos.
The project was developed to meet the long-term electricity demand of Porto do Açu, located in the municipality of São João da Barra (RJ), and the Santo Amaro region in Campos dos Goytacazes (RJ), representing a significant step for local economic development. Given its importance, the project has been declared a strategic enterprise for the State of Rio de Janeiro and considered of public utility.
Construction Phase:
The installation activities for the new SE Porto do Açu are scheduled to begin in june 2025. The construction phase is estimated to last 24 months, allowing for the commissioning and operation of the structures. During the peak of construction, up to 63 direct jobs are expected to be generated, along with indirect jobs and services needed in the service chain.
Operation Phase:
Upon completion of the construction phase, following energization and testing phases (commissioning), the operation phase will commence for the existing 345 kV Transmission Line segment between the new Porto do Açu substation and SE Campos, covering an approximate distance of 50 km.
Location of the Project

Social and Environmental Responsibility
The Oiti Project has obtained the following environmental licenses issued by the State Institute of the Environment, the licensing and regulatory body for activities, along with other stakeholders:
Unified Environmental License IN100627: This license covers both the construction and operational phases. The project will implement 12 environmental programs in the area:
- Environmental Management Program for Construction
- Environmental Construction Plan
- Social Communication Program
- Environmental Education Program for Workers
- Fauna Rescue and Salvage Program
- Fauna Conservation Program
- Germplasm Rescue Program
- Vegetation Suppression Control Program
- Forest Replacement Program
- Recovery Program for Areas Affected by Construction
- Land Negotiation Program
- Environmental Management Program for Operations
These initiatives reflect the project’s commitment to minimizing environmental impacts and promoting sustainable practices throughout its lifecycle.
