EDF Group Launches EDF power solutions in Brazil and Integrates Its operations

The company brings together renewable and low-carbon power plants, as well as flexibility solutions and transmission assets, focusing on strengthening energy transition and security.

The EDF Group has united the International Division of EDF and EDF Renewables under the brand EDF power solutions, which becomes the new identity of the world’s largest low-carbon electricity company. The new brand is part of a global movement by the Group to integrate the activities and expertise of both organizations. Globally, the company operates in more than 25 countries, totaling 31 GW of gross generation capacity across multiple technologies.

With this union, EDF Brazil and EDF Renewables in Brazil consolidate a portfolio of 2.7 GW in operational projects across gas thermal, hydropower, wind, and solar sources in Bahia, Mato Grosso, Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro, and Paraíba, in addition to transmission assets under construction. The new brand will represent, in a unified manner, the Group’s initiatives in the country as it develops, builds, and operates renewable and low-carbon power plants, as well as flexibility solutions and transmission assets. Leveraging its expertise to offer customized solutions to its clients, EDF power solutions drives decarbonization and the overall performance of electrical systems.

“EDF power solutions marks a new moment in our presence in Brazil, aligned with the EDF Group’s strategy to expand its operations in priority markets and accelerate the energy transition. The new brand strengthens our positioning as a provider of complete and innovative solutions, promoting the electrification of uses for our clients, the production of low-carbon hydrogen, and its derivatives. In this way, we bring together our assets and competencies to meet the energy and flexibility needs of the system, today and in the future,” says André Salgado, Brazil Director Chief Executive Officer of the company.

Headquartered in Rio de Janeiro with offices in São Paulo and Macaé (RJ), the company operates in both the Regulated Contracting Environment (ACR) and the Free Contracting Environment (ACL), with solutions that include self-production, PPAs in reais and dollars, and operation and maintenance services. The company also has ambitions in the development of offshore wind energy and the production of low-carbon hydrogen in Brazil, in line with the EDF Group’s global goal of achieving 3 GW of hydrogen production by 2030.
