The importance of digital accessibility

Did you know that more than 60 million people in Brazil have some specific need to access the web and that more than 45 million have at least one disability (IBGE 2010)? Despite these expressive numbers, less than 1% of websites are accessible.

That’s why digital accessibility is so important. It consists of a series of features and tools that enable better navigation, interaction, and user experience on the web. Without accessible resources, it is not possible to browse the web autonomously, causing users to face barriers to consuming digital content.

Thus, with the commitment to act as an agent of inclusion and transformation, EDF Renewables makes available on its website a tool that makes pages more inclusive. Thus contributing to a positive social impact by allowing the inclusion of millions of people in the digital environment.

Located on the left side of the page, the tool has 25 features that improve the user experience on the site. Among the features are the text reader, image descriptions in pop-up window, voice command, customization of the background color, headers and content, virtual keyboard, font adjustment, among other features.

With the tool, we reinforce our commitment to diversity and inclusion practices, humanize our content, stay aligned with the ESG triad by contributing to the inclusion of thousands of Brazilians, in addition to being in compliance with national and international accessibility laws.
