Christmas has arrived in Serra das Almas
The Christmas spirit was present in the communities surrounding the Serra das Almas Wind Farm. The complex, located in the municipalities of Urandi, Licínio de Almeida and Jacaraci, in the southwest of Bahia, held, at the end of December, a special Christmas program for neighboring communities, providing moments of celebration and, above all, strengthening the relationship between the communities and the enterprise.
Over two days, the event brought together about 400 children from 15 communities. The program included cultural presentations by the groups Cantaqui Contaculá and Grupo Tuia, which brought popular Christmas songs and Brazilian culture, involving families in an atmosphere of joy and unity. In addition, painting workshops, distribution of snacks and the long-awaited visit of Santa Claus were held, who distributed educational toys, promoting unforgettable moments for children.
“For me it is a great joy to be here at this event. It is a very special partnership and of great importance. It is the first time that the children’s Christmas will be bigger in our community”, shares Marieta, president of the Community Association of Small Rural Producers of the community of Casa Nova, Boa Esperança and neighborhood
The Serra das Almas Wind Farm carries out several actions that seek to generate a positive impact on the region. In the municipality of Licínio de Almeida, for example, the complex implemented the Vegetable Garden in Schools Project.
The initiative aims to raise awareness among students, teachers and families in the region about sustainability and conscious consumption, in addition to encouraging healthy eating. It also reinforces the importance of food and nutritional security, as well as the value of growing one’s own food using ecological management techniques, without the use of chemical inputs. The action has theoretical and practical activities.
The Horta nas Escolas Project was also developed by other EDF Renewables projects in Brazil, such as the Folha Larga Wind Farm, in the localities of Caraíbas, Poços, Tiquara, Belas, Campo Frio, Pouso Alegre and Caatinguinha, in Bahia, as part of the Environmental Education Program.
In addition, the spirit of solidarity is part of the daily life of the complex. In 2024, the park supported the volunteer action Ventos da Inclusão Project – Building Opportunities, led by SK, which brings infrastructure solutions for a sustainable world. The initiative aimed to improve the infrastructure of the headquarters of the Urandiense Association of People with Special Needs (AUPNE), which serves people with visual and hearing impairments and their families, before the start of the braille and sign language courses offered by the organization.
