Serra das Almas Wind Farm promotes Christmas actions for neighboring communities

The Serra das Almas Wind Farm, located in the municipalities of Urandi, Licínio de Almeida and Jacaraci, in the southwest of Bahia, held, at the end of December, a special Christmas program for neighboring communities, providing moments of celebration and integration. Over two days, the event brought together about 400 children from 15 communities, reinforcing the company’s commitment to the relationship with the local population and benefiting the region.

The program included cultural presentations by the groups Cantaqui Contaculá and Grupo Tuia, which brought popular Christmas songs and Brazilian culture, involving families in an atmosphere of joy and unity. In addition, painting workshops, distribution of snacks and the long-awaited visit of Santa Claus were held, who distributed educational toys, promoting unforgettable moments for children.

“We were very happy to have shared the Christmas spirit with the families neighboring the Serra das Almas Wind Farm. These actions were more than a celebration, they reinforce our commitment to the population of the region, based on actions that seek to bring a positive impact on different fronts to residents. “, said Alexandre Azevedo, director of New Business at EDF Renewables.

Participating communities included Riacho do Mel, Casa Nova, Cachoeira e Jaqueira, Sítio do Carro, Feijão Preto, Espírito Santo, Cabeceiras e Raiz, Saco da Onça, Santa Efigênia, Lagoa do Marruaz, Santa Marta, Salinas, Sítio das Abóboras, Cedro, Boa Vista do Rio Verde and Espinosa.

“For me it is a great joy to be here at this event. It is a very special partnership and of great importance. It is the first time that children’s Christmas will be bigger in our community”, shares Marieta, president of the Community Association of Small Rural Producers of the community of Casa Nova, Boa Esperança and neighborhood.

About the Serra das Almas Wind Farm
The Serra das Almas Wind Farm is a project of EDF Renewables located on the border between the states of Bahia and Minas Gerais, covering the municipalities of Urandi, Licínio de Almeida and Jacaraci. The park was made possible through contracts in the free market and will have 58 wind turbines and a capacity of 261 MW.
