Participation in sectoral events marked the month of August

In order to contribute to the debates that drive the development of the energy sector and reinforce its commitment as a transforming agent, EDF Renewables was present at several sectoral events in August.

The company sponsored and spoke at the 16th National Wind Forum, in Brasilia. On the occasion, our Director of New Business, Alexandre Azevedo, spoke at the panel “Environment and society”, where he contributed to the debate on the socio-environmental impacts on communities integrated with wind generation, as well as the proposal for improvements to this scenario.

The vice president of EDF Renewables, in Brazil, Raíssa Cafure Lafranque, participated in the panel “Blueshore: Impacts and solutions in the energy transition to a low-carbon economy”, at Rio Innovation Week, the largest technology and innovation event in Latin America. During the conversation, the executive shared more information about EDF Renewables’ operations in the country, as well as the company’s ambitions to develop offshore wind power to ensure the success of the energy transition in the long term.

Offshore wind power was also featured at the invitation-only event “Where the winds blow: next steps in offshore wind regulation in Brazil”, promoted by the law firm Veirano. The meeting was attended by the company’s Director of Emerging Business, Sylvain Jouhanneau, who discussed the cost of the assignment and limitation of the area to be ceded alongside representatives of EPE, Shizen do Brasil and ABEEólica.

Finally, the company was present at the 7th Territorial Management Meeting, which brought together professionals in search of knowledge around the challenges, best practices and tools aimed at territorial management. On the occasion, Milena Murta, Socio-Environmental and Land Manager, participated in a round table on the social impacts on the electricity sector and the relationship with communities, an essential theme for the electricity sector.
