EDF Renewables at Brazil Windpower

EDF Renewables was one of the sponsors of the 2024 edition of Brazil Windpower, the largest wind energy event in Latin America.

During the event, the company had representatives on several panels: the vice president, Raíssa Cafure Lafranque, participated in the panel “Free Market: Expanding the reach of wind energy”, contributing to discussions on the solidity of the participation of wind energy in the Free Market and the challenges to maintain the responsible and sustainable growth of this sector, while the company’s director of emerging business,  Sylvain Jouhanneau, discussed the new horizons for sustainable business through offshore, in the panel “Blue Economy – New Horizons for Sustainable Business Through Offshore”.

The director of new business, Alexandre Azevedo, spoke about the challenges and contributions of wind energy and compliance with network procedures, during the panel “SIN Operation: Challenges and contributions of wind energy and Compliance with Network Procedures”, while the land specialist, Flávia Vieira de Souza, commented on the optimization of territorial management in the panel “How to Optimize Territorial Management Enhancing Social Gains”.

In addition, EDF Renewables was present at the stand of the Brazilian Wind Energy Association (ABEEólica), which exhibited to the participants of the event items prepared by socio-environmental initiatives developed or supported by the member companies. The company exhibited a stone wind turbine produced by Fabiano Neri, an artisan from the interior of Bahia with whom it has been a partner since 2021, and licuri cocadas, produced by the Community Association of Lagoa da Roça, located in Campo Formoso (BA), a region embraced by the Folha Larga Norte Wind Farm. The licuri cocadas were also distributed to those who passed by the stand. In addition, in different totems throughout the event, the company had the opportunity to exhibit an institutional video that shares important data as an active agent of the just energy transition.

And there’s more: EDF Renewables, alongside Engie, Neoenergia, Enel, sponsored the documentary video “Winds of Transformation – Multiplier effects of wind power in Brazil”, launched during the event, which seeks to present the positive impacts of wind projects in the locations where they are located.
