EDF Renewables Brazil and Government of Ceará sign agreement to develop renewable energy plant
Rio de Janeiro, August 16th, 2023 – EDF Renewables Brazil and the Government of Ceará signed, on Wednesday (16), a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the elaboration of actions of mutual cooperation and exchange, which will have as their purpose the development of a green hydrogen pole in the state. The initiative is in line with the EDF Group’s ambitions to reach 3 GW of electrolyzers installed worldwide by 2030.
“The signing of the MoU with the Government of Ceará is another important milestone that ratifies our ambitions and growth plan in Brazil, as well as contributing to the EDF Group’s low-carbon goals by 2030,” shares André Salgado, CEO of EDF Renewables Brazil.
From the agreement, the company plans to develop studies and analyze the construction of a green hydrogen production plant, even enabling a rapprochement with local universities.
The Secretary of Economic Development of Ceará, Salmito Filho, pointed out that the signing of the memorandum reinforces the government’s commitment to expanding the production of green hydrogen in the state. “This is yet another memorandum signed to meet the generation of green and sustainable productive opportunities for our local industrial park, as well as for other industrial parks, creating opportunities for employment, income and private investment“, he comments.
