Omega Energia and EDF Renewables do Brasil partner for Ventos da Bahia 3 wind farm
São Paulo, December 23rd, 2022 – Omega Energia has just completed the acquisition of 50% of the shares of the 3rd phase of the Ventos da Bahia, located in the municipalities of Iraquara, Mulungu do Morro and Souto Soares (BA), currently held by EDF Renewables do Brasil, for R$422.9 million (enterprise value).
The agreement provides that R$ 196.6 million will be paid in cash and R$ 226.3 million represents the net debt assumed by the buyer. Completion of the deal was subject to customary conditions for this type of closing, including the approval of creditors and the Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE).
Phase 3 of Ventos da Bahia, with an installed capacity of 181.5 MW, is the expansion of phases 1 and 2 of the wind farm, in which Omega and EDF Renewables are already partners. With Ventos da Bahia 3, Omega and EDF Renewables do Brasil jointly operate now 764 MW, including Ventos da Bahia 1 and 2, in addition to the Pirapora solar complex (400 MWp), in Minas Gerais.
André Salgado, CEO of EDF Renewables do Brasil, commented: “We are happy to announce the expansion of our partnership. The sale reinforces the quality of our projects through the continued interest of investors. With this transaction EDF Renewables maintains its capital recycling strategy to accelerate its growth in Brazil, contributing to the construction of a CO2-neutral energy future”.
Thiago Linhares, COO of Omega Energia, highlights: “The acquisition of the complex reinforces Omega Energia’s commitment to wind generation in northeastern Brazil. The increase in scale in Bahia means greater synergy and diversification of our portfolio in Brazil, in the region with better winds. The acquisition consolidates Cluster Bahia, where we already own the Assuruá Complex and the first two phases of Ventos da Bahia, as one of the main regions where we operate in the country”.
About the Ventos da Bahia
